Birds in cave art

I’ve been looking at the earliest drawings of birds in cave paintings. Here are a few of my favourites.

These are from California and were painted by the Baja people. I’m interested in how rectangle the birds’ wings are because birds wings aren’t rectangle.
  • Mythical bird called a Thunderbird. I like the detail on the wings.
  • An owl scraped into sandstone in Colorado. I think they blackened the stone with fire then scrape it in.
  • An aboriginal cave painting from Australia which possibly could be an Emu or Cassowary.
